Yes, its the end of the school year! Technically, I finished two weeks ago; but I had to come back on Monday and Tuesday, before having to come back on a Wednesday for something called “Peer Support Training”, and all I know was that some of the people attending might not suitable – oh, and you will never guess what I learnt. Apparently, it seems that the year level I am in is the most complained about year level out of the ENTIRE SCHOOL. I’m not saying any names (and I didn’t cause any of the numerous complaints), but if you are in that year level, you will know what I mean.

I swear that every time I am on school holidays, I get weird status messages from people I added as “Friends” on Facebook. No, I am being serious. Below are some of the weird comments that I’m talking about – and yes, their pictures and (last) names have been blurred/blacked out because of something called privacy, that and they do go to my school.

See what I mean? That’s all for today, I’ll write back tomorrow – I think.

So, turns out, my exams are finished and it was my final day of school … in my year level. I have to go back to school next week to participate in something called “Transition”, where we are supposed to be eased in to VCE Units 3 & 4 – I should also point out that I’m not in Year 12 yet, but the school I go to allows us to do two Unit 3&4 subjects, with one of them mandatory (unless you failed the assessment this year or you’re doing VCAL). Then the week after, I have to go back to school again for another week of transition. It looks like my November will still revolve around school.

But on my last day, I found out a number of good news – got a really good mark in Science and Religion, found out that three of the people in a group I call the “Idiots who managed to get into the school because of the feeder school policy” will leave the school and turns out I got a Distinction in that Westpac Maths Competition I did way back in August, which is kinda surprising, because I just got over half the questions right. LOL!

I also got a certificate for doing Building Bridges and for participating in a group called MAYO, where I am the Web Administrator; but I feel my job is starting to expand outwards since I’m also getting everyone who’s doing software projects for MAYO to sign a document releasing it under GPL and I’m organising a Sprint – which is not the athletic one, but the open source community one. I’m also building a new website environment for them, with the help of several people (Does two count as several people?) using WordPress MU, bbPress, MediaWiki and a few other plugins along the way. I tried to make it tightly integrated with each other so one person can login from WordPress MU and jump straight onto bbPress and MediaWiki, but time will tell if this would work. The best thing, however, is I get to rip apart the BuddyPress theme and attempt to find which bit corresponds to the template I designed.

Woot! But what is on the TECHGEEK Agenda for the rest of the year:

THE YEAR IN REVIEW: We are slightly changing it a bit, and we are going to focus on a few topics instead of creating a long document of the months. That way, it makes it easier for us to post it in the relevant topics. Expect this to be released on NYE 2009.

CHRISTMAS GUIDE: Christmas is around the corner and I’m trying to coax Stewart, Luke, Shane, James and Adrian to write up a wish list. This most likely will never happen, but maybe in the next year. If this doesn’t work, wait until Boxing Day, where we will bring together a series of product guides on the best Tech stuff to get during the Clearance Sales. WOOT!

REVIEWS: We’re getting back into reviews, for now, and we have Luke covering the Apple Mighty Mouse, James looking at Microsoft Office 2010 Beta (hopefully) and I’m looking at the Sony Walkman E Series MP3 player – and I’m also trying to get phones and the Sony Walkman S Series.

TIPS & TRICKS: We have been lacking in this type of content for a few months now, and we will get started again in December – hopefully.

I’m also looking in creating a special feature for TECHGEEK.com.au next year called Technology and Education, focusing how new technologies and the Internet have helped education. Anyone want to help, please comment.

Well, I better be off.

See Ya!

FACEBOOK CRAP OF THE WEEK: Grand Final fever has hit Melbourne, and that’s going to be today’s Facebook Crap of the Week’s topic, focusing on the reaction to Geelong’s crushing victory over St. Kilda by my Facebook Friends. Much of the messages had gloating or agony, but mainly the gloating from Geelong supporters. Gotta love Melbourne.

However, today’s FCOW will only have one passage today, mainly because I can’t be stuffed in writing any more, and that it pretty much sums up the pain of St. Kilda supporters and the gloating of Geelong fans.

Person #1
THE SAINTSSS, ARE GOINGG, THE SAINTSSS, ARE GONE, THE SAINTSSS, HAVE LOST IT. COP THATT, IT’S OVER. GO GEELONGGGGG.

Person #2
no (name removed)

Person #3
F**K GEELONG

Person #1
BAD LUCK (name removed), riewoldt is going to dye his hair black, listen to screamo and slit his wrists.

Person #4
Shit the fuk up (name removed) u f***ot c**t

The discussion basically continues to talk about shutting people up and I think there’s a reference of having ADD or some other thing that makes you hyper. Well, until this comes along in its colourful language:

Person #5
SHUTUP C**T U Bi**H F**K GEELONG

Then this:

Person #3
YEAA SUCK A FAT ONE (name removed) EVERYONES AGAINST YOUU F**K WIT F**K GEELONG!!!

Person #1
but (name removed) i tht you were collingwood. (He’s talking to Person #5)

Then it slightly drifts into something else, before Person #5 then goes on and says:

Person #5
lol ye no s**t but im with saints on this one so shutup c**t F**K GEELONG B***H!

Person #1
LOL, everyone so passionate, i don’t like geelong or the saints, but saints supporters were cocky bout it, so umm.. bad luck? next yr maybe.

Then it just ends in with:

Person #6
COLLINGWOOD SUKS

You know what, maybe I should stay away from football fans during Grand Final day.

Studying my little heart out because of exams and working on a blog does not sound like a good combination, but it still manages to help me feel more relaxed into my “comfort zone”. Exams are in two weeks, and I have to push in time to write summary sheets, and to also write for TECHGEEK.com.au and also design a powerpoint presenatation – and don’t get me started on my religion project, which I have to handwrite. No fair!

Anyway, I have to get started on my religion project after exams, by writing the entire thing out – and then see my local priest to do an “interview-style” paper on the differences between Catholic education here and then before Vatican II. Man, there is a lot of things I need to cram.

Back from camping anyway, and I managed to survive without technology – except my digital camera, since I think disposables produce crap shots. While I have scratches, cuts and bruises – I’m fine, though shaken at the experience; and a bit sunburnt over the fact that it was like somewhere in the high 20s. While that may not be hot, it is when the camping area is in the bushland, where there are barely any evergreen trees and harsh terrian.

But, like I said – I’m fine.

This is like my second time establishing a blog – the first one I had to take down because I moved servers. But now, I’m back – and I’ll try not to complain as much as I have done. But, hey, my friend has already established a blog.

Also, in this blog – you’ll find selected TECHGEEK.com.au posts in here. I don’t know why, but it makes sense to fill this with content anyway.

See Ya!
